Adelaide Transport
Getting around Adelaide is easy, affordable and convenient – perfect for Lions heading to the Lions MD 201 Convention in May 2026. Adelaide’s city centre is compact and walkable, with many key venues, attractions, restaurants, and shops within easy walking distance. You’ll find it simple to explore on foot, whether you’re heading to a convention session or enjoying a stroll along the riverfront.
The Convention will be held at the Adelaide Showground, just a short distance from the CBD in the suburb of Wayville. It’s easily accessible by public transport, with regular tram and bus services running directly to the Showground’s doorstep. Train services also stop at the nearby Adelaide Showground Station, making it one of the city’s most connected event venues.
Public transport in Adelaide is reliable and accessible. Free city loop buses and trams operate within the CBD, making it easy to move between key locations without the need for a car. For those staying a little further out, Adelaide’s network of buses, trains and trams connects the suburbs with the city centre and the Showground.
Taxis and rideshare services like Uber are readily available, and car hire is an option if you’re planning to explore beyond the city. Cycling is also popular in Adelaide, with bike paths and rental options available throughout the city.
No matter how you choose to travel, getting around Adelaide is stress-free – so you can focus on enjoying everything the 2026 Lions Convention and the city have to offer.

Using Public Transport
Airport Transport
Public buses provide a convenient and affordable way to travel to and from Adelaide Airport. The JetExpress service picks up passengers from the city, with stops near many hotels, and runs approximately once an hour. You can use a metroCARD for this service, and the fare is the same as a standard bus trip.
Trains
Adelaide’s rail network is an easy way to explore destinations beyond the city centre. From Adelaide Railway Station, the Outer Harbor line travels to places such as historic Port Adelaide and the seaside suburb of Semaphore. Trains generally depart every 20–30 minutes throughout the day.
Trams
Adelaide’s tram service runs through the city centre and nearby suburbs, making it ideal for short trips around town and for travelling to the popular beachside area of Glenelg. Services operate every 10–15 minutes from around 7:00am until midnight. Travel is free within the city centre between the Entertainment Centre and South Terrace stops. The route connects with key bus services and passes major attractions including Rundle Mall, Adelaide Central Market, and the West End.
Buses
The free City Connector bus is a handy way to get around the CBD. Routes 98A/98C and 99A/99C run in both clockwise and anticlockwise loops every 15–30 minutes, seven days a week. These services are especially useful for travelling between city hotels and popular attractions such as the South Australian Museum, Adelaide Botanic Garden, Adelaide Zoo, Adelaide Oval, and North Adelaide.
