What do Lions do best? Serve the community!
The Lions MD 201 Convention 2026 isn’t just about hearing speakers, networking and learning, it’s also about doing what Lions do best: serving the community.
Throughout the convention, attendees will have the opportunity to roll up their sleeves and take part in several hands-on service projects that will directly support people and organisations in our community. These projects are designed so that anyone attending the convention can take a few minutes to contribute and make a meaningful impact.
Hear Me Roar! Project – Supporting Patients, Children and Families
Convention attendees will be able to assist the Hear Me Roar! Project with one of their project iniatives, helping create practical comfort items used in hospitals and healthcare settings as well items given to children in foster care and/or living with sensory challenges.
The Hear Me Roar! Project supports patients and families by providing handmade items such as multipurpose heart shaped cushions, stoma bag covers, and port pillows that help improve comfort during treatment and recovery, as well as baby bibs, personality cushions and sensory toys. By contributing a little time during convention, Lions can help produce items that will bring smiles and comfort to many across South Australia.

Dog Toys for Lions Assistance Dogs
Lions will have the opportunity to make bright, practical enrichment toys for the amazing dogs trained by Lions Assistance Dogs. It’s a chance to try something a little different while contributing to a great cause.
These specially trained dogs provide life-changing support and independence for Australians who are hard of hearing, deaf, living with type 1 diabetes or PTSD.
The toys created during the convention will help support the dogs during their training and working life, keeping them stimulated, active and happy.

Care Packs & Toiletry Kits for People Doing It Tough
Another meaningful activity will involve assembling care packs and toiletry kits for people supported by Hutt St Centre.
These packs provide essential hygiene items and everyday necessities for people experiencing homelessness or hardship. Something as simple as a care pack can restore dignity, provide comfort and remind someone that their community cares.

Get Involved
These service activities are open to all convention attendees and require no special skills, just a willingness to help. Whether you spend five minutes or half an hour contributing, every small action adds up to a big difference. No sign up required.
Hands-on service projects are a powerful reminder of what makes Lions unique. While we gather to share ideas and celebrate our achievements, we can also continue our mission of serving others in practical, meaningful ways.
There will also be an opportunity in the days prior to, and post, convention for a small number of Lions to sign up for a special visit to the Hutt St Centre. Participants will donate their time to help prepare and serve lunch for people experiencing homelessness and hardship in the Adelaide community. It’s a meaningful way for Lions to extend their service beyond the Convention venue, connect directly with those in need, and experience firsthand the impact that a simple act of kindness, like a warm meal and a friendly conversation, can have on someone’s day.
So, while you’re attending the Convention, get involved, and leave the convention knowing you’ve helped make a difference in the lives of others.
